In all seriousness though - Yes, I'm sure the extended warranty ended, and thus so does the liability for fixing the car, however Audi UK or their associated insurer coughed up 22K to Wakefield Audi to do the job right. I'm sure Audi UK would have some influence if it had genuinely not been done correctly.

So there is no mention of the small job of the engine replacement in the service history? Or is it one of those jobs like just topped up the washer fluid so didn't mention it?
Would it be documented anywhere why the old unit failed? Anyway Guy atleast you know that it has a new unit and with care and maybe servicing yourself so you know it's actually been done she''ll be good for many years to come. Also as said abouve well worth winging to HQ as it's now a trust issue and you don't expect main dealers to bodge it up

Perhaps this has no relevance but I was told and had it confirmed in email all Audi replacement parts are covered by a two year warranty so surely that a least applies? I double checked this when I swapped out the air compressor and kept the email for good measure!
£22,000 is one hell of a job and regardless of change of ownership should have some warranty cover even if you wouldn't want them near I again!

no there is no documented evidence of the engine change seems it was swept under the carpet
well if thats the best 2.50 you have ever spent then im sure that this will be the best phone call ive ever made as the 20+k for an engine swap must be worth at least a box of wine

If *you* pay Audi with *your* money to do a job, it is warranted for 2 years.
If its done under warranty, that part along with the rest of the car is warranted until the warranty expires... Otherwise, if a car had an unreliable part that lasted only 18 months, they'd be changing them FOC for life !
