Question Seat memory switch won't stay "on"...

First question: when it's "on", does it stay depressed? I'm talking about the red switch in the memory switch cluster in the drivers door.

If not, then mine appears to be refusing to stay "on" anymore. First noticed it a couple of days ago when the steering wheel stopped retracting when I took the key out. It does if I hold the memory button down.

Any ideas? Do I need a new switch cluster?

PS: just thought....maybe the wheel switch on the side of the steering column has been knocked...I'll go and check

Cheers,
Zip

Mine stays depressed when the button is pressed, and pops up again when pressed for a second time.

Yep, it should stay down when its on but they are notorious for giving up the ghost and not staying down - the plastic inside the switch gets very brittle and tiny pieces break off so the main switch wont stay latched down.

We do sell a lot of the memory switches which I assume is because of this....

Give us a shout if you want a replacement

Question

OK - thanks for the prompt deliery David.

Now......any bright ideas about getting the old one out of the door without removing the door card...? I can see that it should just slide out, but mine does'nt want to play at the moment.

I am suffering the same seat memory problem. Was at IceBlue8's for a beer the other night and when coming to leave, my "taxi driver" (AKA my wife) opened up with her key but the seat didnt adjust as I had set it to do. So she propped herself up on some cushions (she is 1 ft and many pounds in weight less than me) and drove me home. Next day I went to investigate, climbed in and pressed the memory button..... the car then attacked me and tried to crush me against the steering wheel. As my knees were jammed under the wheel I couldnt get out quickly either. Only when it stopped could I wriggle sideways and slither out. Looks like I need a new switch too.
