Guys....
Need front brake pads for my 2002 S8 and going for Brembo, but not sure about part numbers. Can anyone shed any light of this for me ? It looks like the rear pads part number is P85020, but the front pads have two different number...... P85053 and P85040. Anyone know the difference ? I assume we all have either Brembo brakes or Lucas brakes on our cars ? the Lucas pads are shaped differently. Any other type or can I be reassured mine are Brembo because of the shape in the picture ? Cheers ! ![]() |

I would expect you to have Brembos, same as the ones on my 2002 S8
Check your service book/boot sticker for the PR codes quoted - if you have 1ZL then they're Brembo and if you have Teves it'll say 1LJ Discs will also be a different size - Brembo are 345x30mm, Teves are 360x32mm Pads from Audi are £164 Worth a look at this thread too: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthrea...hlight=murrays Cheers Adrian

P85040 are for US market (Teves) as noted against the Part number in your screen shot. P85053 are for Brembo calipers as fitted in the UK market. The Brembo site also identifies the 1ZL code against the P85053 Part No. which ties in with what Adrian says.

Absolutely super guys..... thx !
Guess I just have to contact Audi now and get my codes ! I know they are in the service book and in the boot but for some reason my sticker has been destroyed in the boot, and when I bought the car the service book didn't come with it. Although all the receipts for the service and work were there...... Is there an audi email contact address to get this info or do you have to phone them ? anyhow many thanks again ! Ricky ! |

Just noticed in my screenshot the rears marked as Lucas not Brembo.... would that be the right rear pads if you had Brembo fronts ? Comfused.com ! LOL

This is what brembo fronts look like
![]() I would assume that's what you have - I'm not sure Audi will have a record of your pr codes but there's a customer service number on Audi uk page if you want to try them There appears to be 2 disc options for the back (269 or 280mm diameter) and mine has the larger (pr code 1KW) but pads are all the same.

Yep all sorted..... Brembo's on the front (the same as your picture Adrain), and I looked at the rear callipers at it does actually say Lucas on them......
The Brembo pads all the same must be new on the market because I looked the last time I put two new Brembo discs on the car and they weren't available, so will try them and see how we get on ! Out of curiosity would you guys try, or tend to favour.......Brembo's.......bosch....... bla bla ? I always like genuine pads becasue I didnt like brake dust and they always seemed to run a little cleaner than after market stuff..... just don't like their prices ! Ha ! Thanks again ! Genuinely great forum for help !!!!! Last edited by Ricky22buk; 31st October 2012 at 04:05 PM. |
