Which 2 shades? Are you referring to the plastics or wood?
Vavona is pretty blatant being quite a bright orange-tinted "wood".

I think the FL armrests I fitted to my PF S8 were swing grey vs platinum leather originally and they were definitely somewhat darker (pics on here somewhere) but not annoyingly so.

As for the corresponding plastics I'm not sure about those, someone like IT would know more. I think there are fewer shades than the leather.

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Yes, referring to the plastic trim sections.

It doesn't put me off completely, but obviously want to make sure before I spend £40 ordering lower door trims to 'match' the wood if they're going to end up completely different to the bit of plastic on the underside!

There's a list of plastics colours on the A8parts web site (or shop?), pretty sure I've linked to it before. They will know what they're selling.

Edit: This is what I was thinking of, but it doesn't explicitly list the plastics. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/The-Audi-Pa...r-Audi-A8.html

I've just remember the thread on AudiSRS where you posted a picture of your door. The grey bits there are definitely darker than the grey plastic that goes with a platinum interior.
I guess you could use some suitable spray paint to correct a mismatch though, that's all that Audi seem to do to colour them.

Looking at the eBay link you posted it suggests that for my interior code (WF) there's actually a mix of platinum and swing colours anyway! Which makes sense as the door pull surrounds are lighter than the tops of the doors, for example

Think I'll have to take a punt and get lowers to match whatever it is - need to speak to Dave I think!

Just got off the phone with Dave and my dark myrtle over swing door trims will be heading this way shortly, hopefully with matching lowers if Dave can find some spare.

Happy days!

Well my trims have arrived I've ordered the lower bits to match from TPS in Swing but they're on back order from Germany so will probably not arrive till the back end of next week. I might do a cheeky fit of the drivers one and put the purple lower bit back in.

What my door looks like at the moment - the front ones are both quite badly marked from nails/rings etc and even if I wanted to buy replacement purple ones, I can't as they're NLA.

It's also an interesting experiment to see whether the grey finish will break up the purple in a positive way.

Some really rubbish pics of the new trims. These are actually Dark Myrtle over Swing (the colour of the upper door handle area). ID'ing the right trim option is a nightmare - in Etka you need to identify the PR code for the colour of trim that you want to fit (5MW for dark myrtle) and from that work out which of the available options you want. The door trims are listed as Myrtle with a secondary colour to match the plastic underneath (soul, swing, jazz, tango). Also worth noting that my handbook states my interior is Platinum (WF) BUT there is still a mix of Platinum (light) and Swing (dark) grey depending on the surface.

Once I've fitted these I'll post the details in their own thread but thought it was relevant here

Watching with interest as I've still got mine to refurbish and fit. Are youplanning to do anything with the new myrtle inserts? Mine are pretty poor on the 'grey' part (not the separate lower part, but the bit below the 'wood' trim) and I haven't found anyone to sort them out yet.

Hiya

I'm not sure yet - there are some marks on the wood bit on the driver's door, but compared to the plastic trim on the car now they are minor. The others are all fine and much less marked than what I have now.

I spoke to a trim refurbisher and he advised against trying to paint the lower part - I'd found some Myrtle trims with platinum lowers and was considering a colour change - as the finish won't be as robust as the factory.

I saw a post on Pistonheads yesterday of someone using a mini machine polisher in a drill with some car polish/cutting compound to remove the minor imperfections on some interior wood trim, which might work on mine. I'll probably just fit them and decide how noticeable the marks are and if they bother me.

Most of the trims are still available new via TPS - they priced up at £73.79+VAT before any discount - so if you've got one that's beyond saving that's always an option if the rest are good?

I won't have the lower trims till probably a week Friday so won't know how coordinated it all looks till then
