Nope, a load of the controllers time out. Some work and some don't, however if I scan again different ones work which is why I tried several times the battery one.

Sure thing - I have 2xM10 and an M8 rivnut which I'll send down to you.

Are you sure it's the cable and not the module? Some say that jump starting the car can fry the module (not witnessed that myself despite a few jump starts due to failed alternator)

Everything in the car works as expected, and I remember having issues with CAN on another car. The modules when I can connect to them, do have faults relating to low voltage which once cleared don't return.

Just been out to the car and managed to connect to the battery module, selected coding-07 and changed the battery serial number but keep getting coding rejected error.

The module is already coded for the correct battery make and type, so it was not recoded when the previous battery was installed.

If I try a VCDS auto scan, I get this far and then lots of failures saying controller not responding.

VCDS then reports a problem with the cable, and the scan aborts. They all used to say malfunction, I have managed to connect to some and clear the fault codes which then do not return.

Did not manage to get software version.

I am currently running VCDS on a MacBook pro inside a VMware Fusion VM with USB being passed through from OSX. I'll see if I can borrow a windows laptop from work, maybe the VM is not helping things.

I have borrowed a laptop from work and installed VCDS, and managed to do a full scan successfully. I have erased all the fault codes, but some returned. This is the scan from the battery module.
