Default Can't find the part number on these....

When I took the transmission tunnel trim panels off my D2 recently (drains!) I found some chunky foam padding behind the drivers side one.
It was fairly high up, almost alongside the RNS, and to put it mildly, doesn't look very OEM. No part numbers.
I have absolutely no idea why it was used, unless there was some sort of vibration or annoying rattle - there certainly isn't with the panels off.

I did find some odd remnants of cabling, tape on the wiring looms and some small marks that suggest a handsfree phone kit was installed and later removed so maybe it was related to that?

For your delight (and critique) here's a picture of it:

2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Thanks. The cutout did fit around a near-vertical support strut.
Nothing on the passenger side though.

sounds like a previous delve in there has resulted in one going missing, suspect they are not essential TBH

Does that win a prize for the dullest photo ever on this forum?

Good job I'm at work, if SWMBO had seen that on my screen at home, she'd have called the men in white coats!

I'm surprised no-one has commented on the differing types of foam.

Anyway, I put my side panels and drivers knee panel back just now and left them out, though with the hidden segments trimmed away for cabling there's nowhere obvious for them to go now.

Evidence of previous "butchery" on the knee panel fixings though, so I'm now down to 3 of 5 - the ones by the steering column and bottom right by the bonnet release.
The top-right one under the drivers side air vent had clearly just been ripped out sometime in the past as there's just a jagged hole in the bottom of the upper dash where there should be a metal clip with a threaded hole in it.
The bottom left one had obviously met a similar fate, where it connects to the plastic bracket on the side panel. I found this part-broken but irreparable and useless so removed the bracket entirely.
There were various bit of debris under the carpets that I now realise were evidence of all this. My money is on the handsfree kit installer/remover

Edit: Been for a spin, no squeaks or rattles.
