Default Coolant/temp warning signal

Weird one this.

Came on this morning whilst turning left onto a slip road with a 944 on my rear. I was rather enthusiastic in the hope of seeing a sideways and panicing tailgating prat. Only a little run wide sadly. Went out once on the straight after a few seconds. Didn't come on again despite spirited driving including a fast, sharp, right. Engine temp steady at it's usual spot for a cool day.

Came on twice on the way home, on both occaisions going round a sharp left.
I take this to mean that despite the coolant level being above the min. mark, the coolant is in need of topping up.
Am I correct to discount a failing fan? It was three degrees this morning and similar this evening so no reason for it to be on and as it only happened going round left hand bends it would suggest a swilling of coolant exposing a pipe and allowing the water pump to cavitate possibly and freaking the ecu.

Any flaws in my reasoning? (please don't let it be a failing pump )

Bill
