The squirt mode (great name) not only makes the box hold onto the lower gears, it also downshifts more aggressively when you push the load pedal. And best of all, when you lift off, the box downshifts and keeps the revs up where the power is. So the instant you touch the accelerator you're off like a nutter.
Of course you can do all of this with the tip, but speaking for myself I'm usually so busy hanging on and grinning a lot, I forget to change down.
Thinking about it, the word squirt should be replaced with schizo
