Good info an thanks for sharing.
The top bearing I looked at allowed the rod to move for and aft around 5mm (the bearing was in a sled and at each end of the sled were small springs) which may help with the rod not being straight and true.

For now I will not bother until I am doing some tall prints as for now just working on understanding how to use it best.
