Today I had to visit someone with real VCDS to reset the airbag ecu. While there I grabbed the opportunity to change the transmission characterisation code from 0003 (because FWD) to 0013.

Now it changes gear about how I would expect, so thanks for the suggestion and I’m calling it a win.
