Dry Ice Cleaning
@MikkiJayne, you need to get yourself one of these machines.
OK, it may not work as well on UK cars, nor on rust, but would help get through the crap so you can see what does need replacing and what can be kept on the underside, and engine bay probably too. The landowner behind me is about to attempt to get planning to build some small light commercial units, joint venture?  Dry Ice Cleaning
