DTD only, or all of them?

I've read the 'know your transmission' sticky but have a quick question.

I know the DTD tranx fitted to my old pre FL A8 is one of those that fail early.

My FL S8 is not fitted with a DTD tranx, so is it just as likely to chuck it, or less/ more so?
