Small screen satnav questions

My 2001 3.7 Quattro sport has the basic small screen satnav which is currently using a 2006 Nav CD. My car came without any manuals except the Service Book and loads of receipts.

Question 1, can you enter at least part postcodes into the destination entry. if you can how is this done, so far I have only managed Town > Street > intersection type entry.

Question 2, can you turn the volume up of the announcements from the tiny speaker on the B pillar. She is currently pretty quiet and hard to hear above the Bose sound system. If you can how do you this.

Question 3. 2007 is the last disc available for this nav, is it worth updating to this last version or should I just not bother using it and use a tomtom / retrofit a newer unit.
