Meet Report From Mini Scotland Meet - Jan 21st 2012

Another despatch from your romping reporter

I arrived at Nerston, East Kilbride (South of Glasgow) on Friday afternoon at the hotel in my A7 and was swiftly joined by Brian9 and Connor123 and we adjourned to Frankie & Bennies to grab some food and talk huge amounts of car boll*x

We were swiftly joined by Psyche who managed to get an evening pass from Mission Control and have a very enjoyable evening there and at the adjoining pub until they threw us out when they closed!

Brian produced vouchers at both frankie and Bennies and also at our breakfast this morning and will henceforth be known as . . . . VOUCHERMAN!!!!
for all your voucher advice at future meets he will be the man in a black final edition S8 with Black instead of chrome trim and with a T-shirt saying voucher man. . . he will also be wearing his pants outside of his tights. . .

After our voucher-strewn 2 for 1 breakfast we adjourned to the car park where wet met up with Psyche (plus Mrs Psyche) in his silver 4.2 petrol D3 and IceBlue8 (THE LAIRD) in his recently purchased (from MkOneMan) Final Edition Black S8 and Goglawrie in his Ming Blue A8/S8 combo that we all know used to belong to Amar (Singh) and before that Ian (IT)





So we were all present and correct with four 8's and a 7 and set off from a rainy car park (where was the sunny weather I had pre-ordered?) and headed for Eaglesham on the B764 which is a switchback of a road







We took a quick detour off the road to see Whitelee Windfarm which is Europe’s largest windfarm and is located on Eaglesham Moor just 20 minutes from central Glasgow. The windfarm has 140 turbines which can generate 322MW of electricity, enough to power 180,000 homes!! Whilst it was FREEZING cold up there hopefully you will like some of the pictures we got, its quite a location up there!



























When we left the windfarm we proceeded on a loop down through Galston, Mauchline, through MOSCOW and then SORN (declaring our vehicles off road for a second lol) finally ending up in DOUGLAS (but not the one on the Isle of Man) where we adjourned to the Douglas Arms Hotel for a pie and a pint! (Pssst dont tell MkOneMan but Jim got his old car. . . um . . .DIRTY











We were joined there by TinTin who was driving down from Perth to Manchester and popped in to say hi on the way through. Ive just realised that as TinTins car is also a final edition S8 we had 3 black final editions on the meet - each one very different from the next!











As we drove away from the pub myself and TinTin peeled off southwards on the M74 and the rest headed back north towards home.

What a great meet - from my point of view the company was great and so was the driving today - winding our way in and out of the hills and valleys and throwing our cars around a little more than we normally would!
Thanks to everyone that "came out to play" today, and to those that kept me company for a pint last night, it was great to catch up with old friends and also to meet one new owner too! I can certainly recommend the scottish roads for some fun driving, but as Jim said "I can't stand living with this god-awful weather a minute longer up here" lol
