Tinted xenon plus lamps, how is it done?

I really am fond of the look that mkoneman had on his xenon plus lamps, especially on a black car. I may be getting a set of these and want a similar look. I've been trying to think about how he accomplished it but am a bit confused. Best I've come up with is that he tinted the plastic plate/screen that has recently been referenced by silverd2 in this forum. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance
