Default a8 d2 qs prnd234 woes low atf level?

as per my intro post, my qs has gotten the prnd234 error, code showing incorrect gear ratio, now having little history on the car bar a lot of service stamps in the book, i ventured underneath it to check the f125 connector, which seems spotless, as does the gearbox for a 16 year old car? as you would expect the engine block and wishbones etc have an expected amount of corrosion white oxide etc, but the gearbox looks still quite shiney even the `box sump has no rust spots, so it would appear to me that at some point it has had a box,

the only thing i did notice was from the sump gasket there seems to be a leak so.. could the drop in atf level be causing the error?

cheers, richie
