This is the tale of how I retrofitted a Ski Hatch to my Facelift D2 S8. Not sure if it's in the right section, but it didn't quite fit anywhere else.
![]() The main steps only took about 30 mins including taking photos; it will no doubt take a bit longer to tidy up all the trim and I'll add that here later. I did not take the rear seats out and the key to my success was one of these "bad boys", actually a sander (mains-powered) with an oscillating saw attachment, the sort of blade they use in hospitals to cut off plaster casts. I borrowed it from a neighbour. ![]() To be clear, this is NOT a rotating blade, it just oscillates a fraction of a millimetre at high speed and is very tidy in use. I did remove the "elephant condom" from the unit before fitting, though in retrospect I don't think it would be much more difficult with it fitted.

Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. ![]() 1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
