well actually the blade end and the transponder
no great problem except cost it seems , so I bought a new flip end with uncut blade and new ID48 transponder , phoned the audi agent who said ....sorry , we have to send to germany for a new cut key , they send it here and we recode all of your keys including the old one , we can't code a transponder that has been used on another vehicle but can recode the original for yours [ I think ! } .... didn't ask how much ...just swallowed

on the other hand I am told here that you can go to a suitably equipped locksmith and he can clone your existing key [ does he need to see the car ? ]

or am I missing something

as an addendum I am not clear about seat settings etc according to which remote you use ....how does the system know which remote you have used ....don't they all send out the same signal ?

ah , the wonders of modern vehicles ...hang about , this one is 15 years old !!!!
