I'm a Samsung man to be honest. Just got an edge 6 plus.
Well if the phone won't work with anything I can buy then I might as well get rid!!
So the phone is gen 2?
I take it my 2006 S8 is gen 1 then as it's a series 1?
That right?

Absolutely can or absolutely can't?
If I can I'm hoping the plug will be the same to make the switch over?

It won't work, most people want to switch the other way so they can use bluetooth with their mobile - this requires a change in phone control unit.

And if you go to the unit that will work with that handset, then you lose bluetooth functionality from your mobile.

No - your accessory plate in your car is Gen II
The phone you have bought is for the armrest mounted cradle / bluetooth phone system which needs a different module to work I would have thought
