I'm not so brave. I usually fill up long before I even get the warning, often when there's still a good quarter of a tank.

My car had the infamous fuel tank problem when I bought it, caused by a badly fitted new pump (which I'm told was replaced because the previous pump failed after running out of fuel). It was a year or two before I eventually got it fixed (replaced the entire tank) but, after 'running out' of fuel a few times at just over a quarter of a tank, I think it left me traumatised and cautious of ever running out again

On the rare occasion I have allowed the tank to get low enough to trigger the low fuel warning, I've always headed for the nearest fuel station immediately. I've even been known to put a few litres of a lesser fuel in (ie non-V-Power) just to get me to the nearest Shell station.
