I'll take a look at it again later tonight as it's way too hot during the day. Last night I was sweating like crazy getting the fuel pump assembly back into the tank. Then I called it quits because I was getting very frustrated not being able to get that fuel line square to thread in the banjo bolt.

I did manage to get the fuel line square and got the banjo bolt installed. I bought a inexpensive inspection camera so I can take a look to see if I got the fuel pump assembly fuel line adapter (the part with the orange o-ring in my picture below) installed correctly but I'm struggling to find its exact location with the inspection camera

What I found is if the pump drops into the tank nicely, chances are the small suction line adapter will drop into the receptacle neatly.
If that is misaligned, the pump assembly will be misaligned and the whole shebang won't sit right in the tank. If its dropped in nicely, and the arrows have lined up on the top of the tank near the fuel lines, and the long bolt drops in nicely and does up with fingers, I'd say you've got it right. I remember using my inspection camera to double check myself when i did mine - its hard to find, and took some time with lots of pulling the camera out and adjusting the neck before reinserting, attacking from the left hand tank level sender hole. You need a goods mind eye on where to locate it once the pump assembly is in the tank.

Thanks for the info. I do have the pump assembly in there aligned correctly as it sits flat/square. I didn't really look to see if the arrows lined up at the top of the tank near the fuel lines. I just want to see if I have it correct with the inspection camera for a piece of mind. I'll take a look again this weekend.

Here are some shots that I took which show the 'funnel' that the fuel line adapter sits in. Hopefully you can get some perspective from these. Pictures have uploaded to this site upside down unfortunately so the Front of the car is towards the bottom of the screen. I hope that makes sense.

I spent about 30 minutes trying to see if I got fuel line adapter in the funnel with no luck so I gave up.
Does this connector plug in only one way? I didn't pay attention to the orientation of this connector when I unplugged it from the tube. How often does the left side fuel float mechanism fail? Last edited by Audifan; 9th November 2020 at 10:23 PM. Reason: switched picture to attachment |
