Ah, you want the 2007 + to get working TMC. I think 2007 was the last year they made but some Merc ones work with the RNS D. Not sure which though.

the teleatlas pilot dx work and they do a 2011 version, but its a bit expensive, around £130 IIRC, probably try and get a newish one from e-bay if I can, not really urgent as roads tend not to change all that much.

yeah the upgrade path is an option, but its proving difficult to convince other half that its a wise investment
