I reckon if you kicked up enough fuss Audi would have given you some goodwill on that. A Porsche 997 in the family needed a new engine at about 20k something miles and 5 years old that was brought brand new. They wanted £12k iirc for a new one but a lot of kicking off in the showroom and they went 100% on parts and 50/50 on labour.
