Just been out and took the carpet out and took the cover off, and what did I see..... Apart from a hatchet job where Jo Bloggs motors changed the fuel pump in 2011, yes there was

Petrol on the top of the sender unit.

I have soaked up the petrol thats there, it will come back again but hopefully not till I fill up again. So I'll need to get a new cap and seal from Audi, and lets hope thats all it is. Then I'll straighten the hatchet job and hopefully the plate will fit back on properly.
