Great news!
 I'm planning to have my gearbox serviced at Mackies regularly now as mine has been much better since the recent service (even though I thought it was OK before the service). It feels smoother and quieter. But at £2.5K, I'd go for a rebuild if it needed it as I think my car is now a 'keeper', almost regardless of cost (just don't let SWMBO know that!)

Glad to hear all is now well (apart from the wallet). I'm due in for an oil change at Mackies as soon as I get it passed by the Chancellor... at 84k its overdue.
Talking about deals , BrianG tried with Mackies on behalf of the three of us in this area (3 for 2 - being overly hopeful - or a smaller discount) and they didnt want to know.
