yes the rubber is clipped on thats why I mentioned sticking a needle through it and inject some oil inside.
TBH I have never done it, always been really obvious when i have changed ball joints in the past.
Like has been said earlier best thing is to get her on a ramp at test centre when shes hot and squeaky and they can get the plate shaker to giggle the front end around and advise whats needing done.
I would only take minutes to do so you may get away with with paying them a few beer tokens
