How long we keep cars for?

Longest owned for me is my current (D2 S8) too, about 4.5 years now.

I usually change cars every 2 - 3 years.

I've had 3 '8s, including the current S8.

Before the '8s, I had a couple of Citroen XMs. I like rare/unusual cars, especially larger ones, and the XM fitted the bill. The XM ride and handling was far superior to the '8s, but the '8s are far superior in just about every other way. In particular, '8s don't fall apart nearly as much as old Citroens do!

Before the XMs I had a couple of BXs, including what was one of the fastest (and earliest) production diesels in its day, a BX DTR Turbo. Very tame by today's standards of course though.

I had a few old bangers when I first started driving, not least a Morris Ital. Not only was that the worst car I have ever owned, I think it was quite possibly the worst car ever made.




I'm not even gonna say what my very first car was

I paid £150 for it, cost me twice as much to insure it, then 6 months later, it met its demise when I wrapped it around a traffic light.
