I can only relate my limited experience. My current S8 felt harsh similar to what you describe, and it had FE 20's and on top of that had some cheap aftermarket harsh front springs.
I had correct factory springs put back on and 18" wheels, and it felt normal again just like my previous S8, comfortable but firm and stable, not wallowy. The 18's run on 32psi, but that's with 245 45 tyres. Last edited by Goran; 30th July 2015 at 01:17 PM.
