I have a clone, it cost me about £10 from Aliexpress, installed the s/w via the CD and all works 100%. I have used it on Audi, VW and SEAT and it is still going strong after over 12 months. I know I could be risking my vehicle, but for simple code reading it is fine.
The price difference between this and a genuine cable is 30 fold, even used prices are very strong.

My cable isn't a genuine one either. Cost about £15 and has worked flawlessly on my previous A2 and my current A8. I've had trouble with previous kits for BMWs in the past, but this is faultless. Couldn't really justify the cost of a genuine cable.
