Perhaps he knows shells are cheap. You can pick one up anywhere. Helps if its the same colour as the wreck. And if the keys are in the ignition.
Maybe what he's selling is the opportunity to 'legalise' a 'free' car.
Ian. I thought HPI provides some sort of insurance in case you pick up a ringer like the above.
Back in the 80s or 90s An Uno my wife had had for a year was re-claimed by the leasing company who owned it. They hadn't registered their ownership, so it was clean until they woke up to the fact that their customer had stuffed them and sold their car... to me!
Luckily I bought it at auction, so that irritating extra £25 quid insurance they used to charge on each sale, was suddenly worth having
So back to HPI, unless I'm mistaken, they have some value. Particularly if you purchase a bargain A3 from some bloke in a layby. Which later turns out to be someone else's car in disguise
