Make and wear on tyres would be helpful as these are expensive (looks like Nexxen on the photo, but are they all the same?). Do all the electrics work? Folding mirrors can be problematical and rear blind and head restratints can fail too. Clicking/humming form the air con? But David's link will be the best guide. And there's a recent thread on final edition definitions which I'll dig out - but don't get too hung up on this unless you really want one (like I did) as they are usually quite poorly spec'd.

Interesting Thread.... and we have moved off the Topic a bit.... Apology for the Hi-Jack Bushido....
Does owning a F/E make a difference to the value ? A pre F/E.... With options could it be the same Spec as a F/E ?? What is unique to a F/E that makes it stand out in a crowd ?? I have no idea if mine is a F/E or not.... Does it make a difference to me...... Nope..... Still an Awsum vehicle to drive and enjoy.... I have Solar Sunroof....Fully functional steering wheel... Aerial on the back wing... Rims have been changed twice in it's life.... Bose Audio.... Xenons..... Dark Myrtle Wood fascia etc etc...... Car was registered in SA in 2002 ..... No idea when.... And wether it was a Pre S8 with additional options.... Or an F/E ..... Dunno and don't really care..... So maybe what I am trying to say Is don't let the pre F/E or F/E issue put you off a vehicle Or make you more inclined to buying a F/E 8..... If it feels good...... Fits the Budget...... Buy it F/E stuff can always be added at a later stage...... Makes owning an 8 more enjoyable.... Good Luck with the search and hope you find the one for you..... ![]()

FE was a fixed spec, and pretty low apart from mostly crazy interior colours (purple, red, etc). If you have solar roof, then not an FE..

Tx Psyche..... So I don't need to lose any more sleep over wether mine is F/E or not....
Apology ..... maybe sounding a little blasé' but I just don' t get the whole F/E ....pre F/E thing.... IMO the D2 S8 ranks with the Rs6 Plus and RS4 be it F/E or pre F/E in the Classic stakes.... Maybe it is just cause we are a little deprived of unique vehicles in our parts... ![]()

hmmmm.... All in all sound the first car seems to be a straight and honest car. Not much movement in the asking price tho. Can move to £3300< But it is going to be due belts in next 5000 miles at next scheduled service. Havent got a price for that yet, but...
Its all the buyer / seller game now. He assures me he is in no urgent rush to see the car away so happy to wait for the right price. As the buyer, I know that he is keen to get a camper van for the family breaks over the summer. Is it worth £3300?? Subjective I know. ![]() |

bit of a buyers market on big engined petrol stuff at the moment, it does have a high-ish mileage, depends what you thinks its worth and what else you could get for that price, try the £3k offer and walk away giving him your number, if he really needs the sale he will be in touch, good luck

sorry, but a 150k 4.2 QS is not worth any more than 3k, and that's being generous.
Put it like this, my 2000 with 115k and a broken gearbox made £1,400 to a scrapper 12 months ago, can you afford to lose 2k if something serious fails? And at 150k, there is always going to be something to do, gearbox might have been done, which is a fantastic plus for this car, but there'll be other things, might be steering rack, might be suspension components, might be electrics, but with that mileage there will be something That the belts are due to be changed too brings it down to 2.5k max in my opinion. If the seller takes this to a garage in p/x, he'll be getting offered 1-1.5k, no more (unless the dealer has a huge mark-up to give away on the sale vehicle). How much did Guy get for his in the end, which we all know was very well looked after? And how much would an early D3 4.2 be with 150k, much more than 3.5k now? I doubt it, considering Richard's D3 that only had about 75k on it, from memory
