Guys
Here's a tale of one of the many benefits of being part of this forum. Bear with me and read through to the happy ending.... Last week I had my car booked in for a service and MOT at Auditechnik in Glasgow. However, as I had to attend a family funeral the following day down in Stafford, I postponed the MOT as I didn't want to risk a 600 mile round trip if it failed. That turned out to be a good call, as both CV joint gaitors and 2 suspension arms needed replacing. So, got the service done and booked the car in for yesterday for the work to be done and the MOT. And then the problems started! Auditechnik are really busy, with one of their ramps permanently 'occupied' by a car awaiting a new gearbox and one of their technicians on sick leave. So, they sent my car off for an MOT first, which of course it failed, planning to do the remedial work later in the day and then get an instant MOT pass. Then they discovered that the suspension arms they'd ordered didn't fit (having removed my old ones), and the correct ones were on back order form Audi and not available from any other of their suppliers. ![]() But then a forum member (Dave McB) who works at one of their suppliers (DingBro, I think), and recognised me/my car, scoured his suppliers and found a pair in Germany. But by then we'd missed the next day delivery cut off, so we were left hoping for delivery on Thursday. And I'm away on holiday (needing the car) at the end of the week! ![]() But this morning I got a call from Auditechnik to say the job was done and the car ready to come back! Apparently, Dave had found a pair of arms in stock late yesterday evening, but wasn't sure if they were the right ones. So he'd driven them over to Auditechnik to check against my old ones. And they were a perfect match! ![]() Dave, thanks so much! I have no idea how many beers that puts me in your debt. You're a star and have got me out of a huge hole! ![]()
