Default Odd Braking Feeling...

... in the last couple of days, when I've first taken the car out (this morning and yesterday afternoon) the brakes felt a bit like the servo wasn't working. I had to press the padal very hard and still got little braking effect. But after 100 yards or so, trying the brakes a few times, everything returns to normal. It's a 2002 S8 BTW.

It's not cold here anymore and all the snow has gone, so I don't think it's weather related. Any ideas?

The car is in the garage just now getting tyres on the winter wheels and having the self-levelling headlights checked and I mentioned the brakes, but nothing sprang to mind. So if you've been here before, perhaps you'd point me in the right direction?
