Default Slippery little suckers

Having read how Conan had some issues fitting the engine and ended up with the sub frame resting on hi finger, and numerous other incidents ver the years with A8's collapsing their standard jack this week it was my turn.

I have been meaning to get the wheels refurbished for ages and this week in preparation for the meet decided to finally get it sorted. Of course the main problem with that is you need all the wheels in one go and the car cant be moved for a week or so unil the wheels are back. The best place for it was my garage, its a tight fit at the best of times without having to remove wheels as well so I got the spare wheel from the track car and put it onto the NSF wheel and then drove the car into the garage at an angle to give myself as much room as possible. I continued on removing the OSF wheel but as is iften the case the trolley jack I had at home didnt want to go high enough to put the axle stand where i wanted it so i had to comprimise a bit and used the anti roll bar subframe mount. That was fine so onto the OSR, no poblem there got the axle stand in easy enough and onto the NSR. As some of you will have noticed the A8's are very strong and you will quite often see the car raise a wheel when jacking at a different point so it wasnt too much of a surprise to notice that the car had lifted off the OSR axle stand when i jacked up the NSR. Well just as everything was looking rosey and the tyre was lifting off the ground the whole car moved and fel off the front axle stand.

Ooooops

luckily the axle stand had tipped over but had still stopped the disc hitting the floor. I went into work and picked up the 18"sport wheel that I still have and refitted that and managed to still get the jack into so that I could lift the car and fix and reposition the poor axle stand.

Alls good now it wasn't a big problem, I'm fairly lucky that i was clear of the car at the time and although I had thought I had done everything right a new better quality jack may have to be added to the list of wants and ill think more about positioning the axle stand so that the tripod aspect is better placed from now onwards.

Oh well we live and learn
