I had a VW eos briefly,. and it was underspecced, underpowered, front wheel drive, and with the roof down, some of the most exhilarating driving I've ever had, even at near standstill. Love it. The B7 S4 Cab I had, built on that. The rumble of the V8, the Quattro, the unusually low centre of gravity really added to the handling, and no body roll or twist like I expected. It was oddly near perfect. I had to go somewhere different after the RS6. No other saloon / A8 / A6 / regular car was going to feel anything like good after that, so time to combine my regular motoring, with my love of the open air. I need something a bit cheaper (capital wise) and a bit cheaper to run (pence per mile wise), to justify enjoying it all the time. With the hit I'm taking to move the RS6 on quick to secure this, the gap has narrowed on the capital, and the deal is not as clear cut as I need it to be. The S5 is also not prepared brilliantly, and does look overpriced for the mileage amongst the crowd. So, I really, really want. But shouldn't commit to it unless I get a serious bite at my RS. It really is a 30K car, but the reality is that the number of people walking around with that sort cash in their pocket looking for a private purchase are limited, which requires patience, or a more serious price reduction, neither of which are ideal.....
