VCDS Users In The Swindon Area
Hi ladies and gents!
I have ordered an ME7.1 S8 ECU for my 2000 B5 A4 Quattro, into which I have installed the 4.2 V8 40V (BFM) from my 2005 D3 A8 Quattro. http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=11537 I can have the immobiliser defeated, and the car will run just fine. However, this will give me an error code in my cluster, meaning I will not be able to perform any soft coding - fuel gauge, rev counter etc. I also intend to install my 2003 C5 RS6 cluster. The option I have here is to code my keys to the replacement ECU. This will make my immobiliser work the way it should, and not log any DTC's in my cluster. Can anyone in or around the Swindon area (quite a few on here) with VCDS help me with this? Naturally, I will pay for your time and the work. I want to get this wrapped up, so I can move onto the next stage, and car. I have another V8 engine waiting, this time a 32V AHC motor from a 1998 S8. I would appreciate help from a VCDS-wielding member. Thank you in advance.

My fault, I suppose. It's not an A8, so it's to be expected, though I would have thought the immobiliser coding procedure would have been the same as the facelift D2 (IMMO II). Still, I understand, it's no one's problem. I'm getting the car trailered to Swindon Audi next Tuesday, which is just 5 miles from me. Thank you all for your valuable help, I appreciate it.

Yesterday, the 5th May 2016, I successfully got my D2 manual S8 adapted to my 2000 B5 A4 Quattro instrument cluster. All I had to do was extract the 4-digit SKC / PIN of my cluster, add a zero to make it a 5-digit code.
A good buddy of mine with VCDS was then able to input the code, and match the S8 ECU to my cluster (VDO D11). The car runs perfectly. I have 2 spare clusters - one from a 2000 B5 S4, as well as another from a 2003 C5 RS6. I am going to have both aligned with the D2 S8 ECU too, pretty easy once you have the SKC from the original cluster.
