Also, it didnt take the corners quite so well - much to the consternation of the Mrs D and the crockery in the cupboard.

Well, just take the 8 next time. Who needs crockery, or beds for that matter

I've just spotted this thread and I'm in the middle of building a canopy as well.
Well done David S8 looks sweet under the canopy !!! I couldn't decide on the design, mainly on the materials. My biggest problem with wood was the maintenance, lifespan and strength so I've decided at the end to go with steel solid construction, bulky posts and metal roofing made by ze Germans. All bolted together in sections and chemical fixing to the ground and with a little slope towards the tree line. I never got round to it and only after getting dark S8 recently (A8 in Akoya Silver wasn't showing dirt so much) I was feed up with car looking all **** within 24hours since it's been polished. Plus the sh1t from the tree was really getting on my nerves. Over the summer I have put pop up gazebo 6x3m and that made a huge difference. The biggest difference I've noticed on my both doors and roof after 3rd windy weather which dragged the gazebo all over the passenger side and securing pins on the legs deep scratched the hole bleeping side resulting in a £1200 damage. It was around a month since restoring the S8 to her former glory. This is when I nearly got a heart attack and decided it's time to finally sort this out. Had it all dropped off to mine two weeks ago and I am planning to have it all finished this weekend. It is 7m long, 3m wide and 2.5m high. Next on the list is to finally replace the garage door and jet wash the driveway and paint the canopy after it's finished, two more coats. This is the progress so far...

That must have been a nightmare to find that damage on the car
But the new car port looks a right sturdy job It'll do a good job of keeping the leaves/seeds and other green sh1t off the car which ALWAYS causes drain problems.

Nightmare was to fold down the gazebo on my own while it was still windy, finding the damage was traumatic. It has got so deep into my genes and dna that my entire family tree as of then will suffer for at least 6-7 centuries.
