I wonder if the additional 2 cylinders of the V10 increase the length of the engine too much, removing all potential access space?

Ugh. Just wrote a bunch of stuff about the job on a V8 and then realised yours is a V10. Thats a totally different job since it's a chain-drive engine. It will be engine out for that if the cam tensioner stuff is part of the chain drive on the back of the engine.

Edit - definitely engine out. The cam adjusters are a completely different design to the belt-drive V8s so if its rattling from the back its probably time to replace all the tensioner gubbins.

Can't find a pic of the V10, but it looks to be a similar concept to the V8:
