private seller sold it to a dealer in2020 for £22k
they retailed it for £25995 in 2020 1 year later and an extra 10,000 miles the guy got rid for some reason p/x then that dealer traded it on to the dealer who has it now so its up for £28698 i went to look at it to see what extra spec it had (got nowt really) so they offered me a discount of £198 for a cash sale i just cant see them paying more than £22k again for it maybe im wrong then ![]()

The price has risen only because in the current climate prices of used cars is crazy. I'm not saying it's correct but that's what it is right now. Good time to sell, bad time to buy

You probably are wrong, yes, the proof of the pudding will be if/when it sells, but if you are buying at the moment dependent on getting a big discount, then you're going to be looking for a while. But think of the VED you'll save ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I don't understand this fixation with what the dealer might be making on a sale. Assuming everything else about the car is acceptable then the price they are prepared to sell it for is the only thing that should matter to you.
Why the hell would you 'mind' if they are making a stonking great profit (which £8k is not IMO). If you like the car and like the price then buy it. If you don't then just move on.
