S8 D3 Exhaust Options - Help
Hi all … recently added a 2009 D3 S8 to my collection … but can’t get the exhaust sound right … so far:
- flaps cable tied open = no noticeable difference really - all 4 resonators deleted = better under acceleration but nothing special on tickover or low revs - rear mufflers delete (therefore straight piped) = amazing but ridiculous :-) - new replacement sport mufflers = nearly there .. but drone at 1500 revs …. What have others done? .. don’t know if next option is put a couple of resonators back in or different mufflers? |

Depends what sound you are after to get it 'right'. Some have removed secondary cats and been happy. Others (like me) have cable tied the flaps and are happy as it's slightly louder on throttle but quiet when cruising. Being an '8' I'm happy with it as I don't think it should sound like an R8 or RS6 but everyone's different

I have just had the two rear mufflers deleted (left resonators in). It sounds absolutely amazing but to be honest I feel like it's ruining the "Prestige" vibe of the car. I am thinking of just replacing my muffler delete with a valved system so i can have the best of both worlds.

If I ever buy a D3 S8, this is the system I would get.
It is approx £10k though https://youtu.be/CZqAckA0wMg
