Ian probably put the kiss of death on this one for you Ranj,

"The RNS-C is a waste of effort to get working anyway as they're unsupported and horrendously slow. The disc they run is a Travelpilot (not the DX version) - Its the same as used in some Fiats I think. Ebay for it, I recall I bought a Fiat disc once for a Preface D2...."

But if you need to get rid of it pop it in the post to me with the facia and i'll sort you out the postage

Default Kiss of death

If one was upgrading yes...would be no use...but if someone had an existing unit they needed to replace...this would be virtually impossible to come by....kind of like a valueable antique....

It's the sort of thing that shouldn't be thrown away; maybe A8parts would take it off you to "preserve it for posterity" for the cost of P&P.

Don't forget that to BUY the non-DX "final" CD alone (new) is £80; occasionally a little bit cheaper on eBay.

Well, I'll continue nailing the coffin.

It always amused me how the Pre face came with the Factory Standard Sat Nav, which was the (lets face it) completely crap text based system that the RNS-C shares so much inner workings with.

The most amusing thing, was that they paired the worlds slowest Sat Nav system, with one of the fastest production Audis at the time.

Unless you were on a long stretch of motorway, or A road, it quite literally couldnt keep up. And thats if you went the right way.

If you took a wrong, well, you were screwed. By the time it recalculated you'd be treading water having driven off the end of the mainland waiting for the next instruction.

To try and use it in somewhere like central London must have been hilarious.

Thankfully, Navigation has now matured well into something far more useful.

Yes, this unit has a place in history, and thank god its staying there..

Eh, hang on, whats wrong with giving it to me? Don't start picking on me. A8 Parts have enough bits to build a whold 8 for posterity if they wanted.

Sorry, certainly not trying to do that.

I missed your comment about wanting it and was just reacting to other observations about how awful it is. Though mine isn't "that" bad really.
