i think when the work was all carried out they would have only kept it for a while, november would not require air con, and as for power steering it could have been gradual leak as if the car was not used all that much they more than likely would not even notice,

its a big undertaking changing out that engine and then selling the car on but the thing i dont understand is that its only 1 owner from new and he was the Audi garage owner ? and all history is all wakefield
no other Audi garage has touched the car at all, its all wakefield

So there is no mention of the small job of the engine replacement in the service history? Or is it one of those jobs like just topped up the washer fluid so didn't mention it?

Would it be documented anywhere why the old unit failed?

Anyway Guy atleast you know that it has a new unit and with care and maybe servicing yourself so you know it's actually been done she''ll be good for many years to come.

Also as said abouve well worth winging to HQ as it's now a trust issue and you don't expect main dealers to bodge it up

That could also explain why some faults were not rectified after the refit...

That is a right result. Unit 20 are good aren't they? No BS about wrong parts turning up, engine lights staying on, car being delayed by days, taken on joyrides, mis advising you need an engine change or worse stolen. Was a big shock to me after having used Mr B for the past few years.
