How have you found the F1 Assy's as when I had my old car they lasted less than 8000 miles. I found that the GSD3's lasted well but when I changed to the Assy's they soon ran out of tred. Why oh why did they discontinue the GSD3's.....

I´m running 265/40-20 Goodyear Eagle F1(10 parallel spoke design from the 2010 A8) and noise is no issue what so ever... and I like the quiet'ness of the A8(I seldom crack open a window as I find the noise of the wind annoying)

But the diameter of the wheel is bigger than the standard fitted wheels, so I guess the extra hight of the tire might have something to say aswell?

Cheers, Jake

It will make a little difference yes but the suspension and seat options in the 8 make up for quite a bit of discomfort you would normally feel when
In most cars with low profile tyres. My 8 is running 25 profile at the back and 30 at the frOnt and people who have driven it can't believe how nice the ride still is (and I'm running coil overs on the front too!).

Anyone had any experience of Avon ZZ3 tyres? I've got a good quote, but never had Avons on a car

Avon were standard fit for Rolls Royce for many years and the Avon brand seem to be making a comeback.

I've just had some Michelin Pilot Super Sports fitted to my RS6 by event tyres today, I'll let you know what I think. They were about £250 including fitting each but I got a £50 free fuel voucher...

Had Avon ZZ* maybe 3 maybe something else on A6 when bought it, looking at the tread pictures on the net they looked the same as ZZ3. Not impressed at all, noisy, hard, low grip in dry and wet and wear out fast. I put on second hand Michelin Alpin for winter ,they were more comfortable, quieter and with better grip in cold , whet and even on dry and hot. I did not take them off for summer, I thought I will wear them out during summer and get another set for winter as I expected them to wear out fast in summer heat. Much to my surprise they didn't wear out much at all. Looks like they will last this winter and next summer before need to change.

That's better!

Got the Vredestein's (prononced Vred-es-teen apparently - makes me think of Fred Astaire) fitted this weekend. What a difference. I've only done around 100 miles or so, but they are much, much quieter than the previous tyres and, coming in to work this morning, along rivers that used to be roads (we had of a lot of rain last night), they seemed much more sure-footed in the wet.

Not quite as quiet as David's S8 with the 18" wheels, but pretty close.
