A8 4.2 40V manual conversion
Hello, this is my first post and I want to introduce you to my project. Namely A8 4.2 40V manual conversion. Cost me a four months, to get all parts and finish it. For now I have changed console pedals
(from A8 2.5TDI non quattro) (from 2.5TDI non quattro) I put my hand on the from A8 2.5TDI non quattro) The box itself chose FTL 01E 3.889 ratio (from A6 2.5TDI) with the rear differential(from automatic A8 3.7). Lengthened and balanced propshaft. Front axles from a manual transmission to the A8. Modified flywheel from 3b engine, Clutch and disc from S4. As I changed all the seals. And I did a full rebiuld engine. Custom 3b flywheel. Developed from myself. Some problem's parts is healed... This small pipe is from block to oil cooler. How look insine 2000rpm = 120km/h (speedometer is calibrated by gps) Some pictures from inside Last edited by nakata; 13th April 2014 at 03:05 PM. Reason: Embed photos |

Hi Nakata and welcome.
Amazing work, well done!!! I see its a LHD car, where are you based? not in the UK I'm guessing. How did you get round the problem of fooling the gearbox computer that the auto box is still there? |

I'm Bulgarian. If you want to fool the TCU is need to recode: ECU,ABS and instrument. But i drive directly with TCU in drive mode (D). I don't have any problems with that(only TCU stay in limp mode). Everything work perfektly, for now.

Zdravo!
I am from Serbia. You have excellent skills. I will have to go to a mechanic to get my one converted. Does it feel faster with the manual gearbox? Goran |

Let us know how much your fuel economy improves. Really amazing job that you did it all by yourself.
I cant wait to do mine, unfortunately the UK ones have a big problem - no manual pedal box. all the best, Goran |

Mixed fuel consumption is 11 liter LPG per 100km, average speed 37km. All conversion cost me 600 euro. Engine rebiuld cost me 800 euro.

I dont know about LPG, is that better than before?
That is cheap, I think so far all the parts cost me £2500. Gearbox was £500. |

Before that i drive on CNG and fuel consumption was ~30% more.
