My Uncle's Audi 5000S Diesel Turbo
Hi, I thought I'd share this as ever since I was a kid, I've always thought it was cool. I went to visit my Uncle in Vancouver BC last year, I was shocked to see he was still driving around in his Audi 5000S Diesel. In that part of the world, I'm pretty sure his car is very rare, being a Diesel:

A rare beast indeed. Always loved the type 44's. I would venture as far as saying there are more left in North America than the United Kingdom, well preserved too.

What a lovely car!
I have a couple of "Type 44"'s though neither is in the wonderful condition of the one featured. I have a 29 year old 1.8, which is a daily drive!! also I have a 2.3 quattro (non turbo sadly) variant which is 23 years old, and still going strong. THESE are the cars with which Audi built their wonderful reputation. Sadly some of their subsequent models have been interfered with by the accountants to a great degree, and this is why we now have problems such as "Botangs Hole", it would NEVER have happened in the days in which these cars were produced! IMHO! |
