VCDS system/lead
Hi Nollywood,
I have a legal VCDS cable and software. I am in Warfield, near Bracknell. Around over the weekend if you want to pop over. About 25 miles from Heathrow. RG42 3UA, 07879 432887. Just finished fixing my phone mic! Regards Richard

Mon to Sun any time, I'll give u a laptop with full VCDS and you can do what ever you need to sort this out. Free of course Got a big car park to my self so even if I'm busy you can just crack on with it, although car park busy Mon to Fri 7am till 6pm, but you can use my driveway during this hours and garage if you need any tools

We managed to sort some of the issues with missing menu items and a complete lack of soft coding of module 7 Also updated the firmware but we've ended up with component protection kicking in on the radio module which may or may not be linked to the loss of sound from the right hand speakers?! Not sure why CP has kicked in or if the issues are linked but Nollywood has the before and after vag-com logs to post up so hopefully someone can advise. I suspect until a dealer visit to clear CP we won't know if they're linked problems or not.... Did a nav update too and that's working well, although there's a stored DVD rear error Adrian

A big thank you to Adrian, who pretty much devoted his Sunday to sorting out my car. An even bigger thank you to Mrs. Adrian too.
As has been stated, Component Protection has been activated, so I'm looking at a trip to my local Audi dealership. I've been reading up on CP, and the symptoms I'm getting are typical. I found this on the Audi resource site: "When updating the firmware to 5570 it is possible that the CP will kick in, usually causing the bose amp to run on one side only." That is one of the symptoms I'm getting. I also have: 1) Loss of Navi turn-by-turn in DIS. 2) Loss of CD / radio data in DIS. 3) Climate settings for passenger and driver have swapped sides - at least according to the display. I'll post the logs tomorrow at some point. But overall, I'm happy to get my settings back in MMI, especially suspension settings.

 At least I've learned some limitations of the (paid for!) VCDS setup I have.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant. 2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!  Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

The left/right Climate thing is just a label problem. It needs to be told it's in a right-hand drive car again.
Mine went into CP, but cleared itself after running the disks again and doing an error clear on VCDS.

We tried rerunning the discs through and it didn't find any missed updates. Not sure if you can force the updates to reinstall? Would be good if you could and worth a try.
As to why the menu items disappeared we're still none the wiser. It seems module 7 had lost it's coding completely but how that's possible I have no idea!
