Interesting, they are estimating $42K per car (with options) which is just under £30K.
As I know well from my current vehicle search, you don't get much car in the UK for £30K these days. But somehow I suspect the pricing won't be a straight dollar conversion.

Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one! Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later) 1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850! |

As much as I would really like to get a model 3, when it eventually appears I bet the dual motor model S will drop to the £40k range or below.
I prefer large cars even if used vs new small/medium car. £60k S70D in Europe. https://www.autoscout24.com/offers/-284966083 |

To answer Jim/The Laird's original question...
CAR seems to think so - and is the first magazine to take them seriously: more than 20 pages of Tesla-focussed review content (and no adverts!) and I expect the others will have to follow suit now

Pity, it should work. Worth buying the hardcopy to read whilst waiting in Heathrow lay-bys . If you're really stuck let me know, and I'll send it to you...

And now this - quickest production car in the world...
...or so they say: 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. Not the same as fastest, of course
