Leave on or not
Im in the process of fitting a dashcam too, question is do you leave it connected to power all the time.
Reason I ask is mine has the option of doing parking mode so if something is seen in the camera field of view it will record any incidents in my absence. Will the camera be ok to be left on, and will the car shut off the power supply should the battery get low?

Don't think mine has an internal battery, as soon as I pull power it informs me its shutting down...

Mine I had coming from an un-switched supply at the roof electronics, I would leave it plugged in if I was somewhere I wanted it left on, and if I was removing it from the car or the car was safe I'd just pop the plug out the top, I left it plugged in for over 7 days solid and due to the **** battery management system I nearly ended up with a flat battery once, I recharged the battery and unplugged it during most nights when the car was safe and never had the problem again.

Food for thought, think I will buy a separate battery saver to wire in line and have it connected to terminal 30 via a fuse.

I wired mine into the fusebox, to a switched live. I'd rather not have the camera powered at all when the ignition is off. Better safe than sorry. I prefer to keep things simple given the number drains on the A8s battery.

I went the route of fitting an extra fuse into the drivers side panel and wired in a automatic cut of thats settable giving the option of having the camera on for parking mode but it will switch off when the battery is getting low to save a flat battery.
The reason I went that route is it became apparent that the battery manager would not have any influence on the situation should the dash cam be powered from a cigar lighter or the always on supply rail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=1078&v=yzxh1YcWmXw
