I was just yeterday reading through MMI updates for the D4

The issue with CP for Bose is still there, the suggestion is to either

A) go to manual mode and select everything except the bose before starting the update
B) unhook the most cable from the bose and put a loop in its place while updating

You're already at a level that might have CP locked the Bose amp! Does your Bose amp play left side only?

What level is your Bose Amp firmware? [See VCDS or MMI 'red screen']. If it's at SW level 0460, 5570 won't change it.

Same part number; same H level!

I wonder why mine went into CP and yours didn't; do you recall which level you came from when you did the 5510/5570 update?

Sorry; by 'Red Screen', I mean the screen you use to do software updates by using the 'Car' and 'Return' buttons for 5 secs. This is headed 'Current Config' and shows the devices currently recognised on the MOST optical BUS. It also has a 'Softwareupdate' option bottom right which is used to perform MMI updates from an MMI CD in CD1 position in CD Changer.

Turn the dial to the required device and press the dial; you'll get a summary screen for the device characteristics, including firmware level and date produced. If your Bose is at "SW-Index 0460', it won't get updated going to 5570 and thus won't go into CP.

Sorry Julian, I'm 76 now and the memory is not that good.
I remember it was very low but I went through all three CDs 'cos I did not know what I know now. CD2 said something like "nothing to update", I have the old OEM Motorola phone in the armrest. Now I understand why.

That's an interesting MMI screen view of an A8 Bose Amp. I've never seen that version of the amp before in any scans or logs from a D3 A8!

All the Bose scans I've ever seen are for HW Part 4E0 035 223A, the latest software for which is 0460 dated 18/07/2005. These are identified by the MMI update CDs as [DSP].

Your HW is 4E0 035 223G H02, with firmware 120 dated 14/12/2006. Accordingly, this implies you have an amp identified by the MMI update CDs as a [DSP_D3K].

From an earlier post I can see you have MMI 5150; the 5570 CD [aka CD3] doesn't have an update for the [DSP_D3K] amp so it shouldn't go in to CP if you run it.

The 5570 level updates that might apply to you are:

1) MMI [5510 -> 5570]
2) AM-FM radio [but not DAB] [620 -> 630]
3) HybridTV [119 -> 128]

Julian
