Can't see why this would start after changing the battery thats all, and hence the 'what would that have done' question. Its like it drops off and hovers above cuttting out when I slow down, but when I am sitting there (at the lights for example) watching the rev counter, it recovers to a nice steady tick over.
Its not up and down all over the place, but lets say drops to 3-400 revs as I stop, and recovers to 5-600 (or whatever is normal)
Yup, thats exactly how the 4.2 ABZ behaves with dodgy breathers, but obviously cant be related to the battery change in that case....

Would be worth a vagcom session onto the engine ECU to see what its reporting, it anything...

Dunno.. Could be related to the throttle calibration if it's dropping too low when the throttle is completely lifted. Do the reset and see what happens.

Not sure on the concert, but some head units know which car they were actually fitted to and if it's the same one, then they don't ask for the code when the power comes back.

Need a new battery for the S8, can anyone recommend a place to get one? What do they usually go for?

Expect to pay between 90 and 110 for a 95Ah battery. GSF, Halfrauds etc are about the same price.

I got one of those about 2 months ago. Seems perfectly good to me. Good high aH rating as well.

Recommend removing the fuse box cover above the battery before trying to get it in. Be prepared for very sore knuckles...

Thanks for the fusebox pointer tip Zip, that seems like a good idea in hindsight. Fitted it last night, I could have got the Halfords one for £75 trade instead of £99 and it still comes with a 3 year warranty, buy I'm a sucker for only the best for my S8 so Bosch it was.
